Birthplace: Fresno, California Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Margaret Noren, age 99, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away, Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Stanton Care Center in Stanton, Iowa. Margaret Ann Noren was born January 23, 1907 in Fresno, California the daughter of Rev. Adolph and Emma (Erlandson) Noren. That same year, the family moved to a farm in Frankfort township near Red Oak, Iowa where Margaret was raised. She graduated from Red Oak High School and Minnehaha Academy in 1926 with a degree in business. She went to work for the City of Red Oak for four years before moving to Chicago where she worked for the Swedish Covenant Hospital. She was then employed as Bookkeeper for the Carson, Pierie, and Scott Department Store where she worked for 36 years. For a short time, she was a "beauty culturist" and always enjoyed having her hair nicely fixed and her nails well groomed. While in Chicago Margaret was a member of the Maplewood Grace Church where she was the pianist for many years. Margaret retired in 1972 and moved back to Red Oak where she was a member of the First Covenant Church. For the past several years, Margaret was a resident of the Stanton Care Center in Stanton, Iowa awaiting her hundredth birthday later this month. Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant sibling; brother: Herbert Noren; sisters: Elvera and Irene Noren; half brothers: Carl, Victor, Oscar, David, and Edwin Noren; and half sisters: Ida Swenson; and Emma and Sarah Noren. Survivors include nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the First Covenant Church with Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Mission Covenant Cemetery near Stanton, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, January 8, 2007 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church or the Stanton Care Center. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
