Margaret Morgan, age 90, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, formerly Emerson, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at the Heritage at Fox Run. Margaret was born April 10, 1935, in Mound City, Missouri where she was raised. Margaret graduated from Mound City High School in 1953 and attended Northwest Missouri State University. While in Maryville, Margaret was hired as the first female bus driver. This is also where she met her future husband, Richard Morgan. Margaret and Richard were united in marriage in April of 1960 in Maryville, Missouri. They lived in Missouri until Richard received a teaching position in Stanton, Iowa. Later they moved to Emerson, Iowa, where they lived for many years. The past year Margaret has resided at Heritage at Fox Run in Council Bluffs. She worked for Montgomery County Memorial Hospital as an admissions clerk for many years. Margaret was a very kind lady who enjoyed feeding the neighborhood cats, squirrels, and birds. She loved the color “Red”, shopping, and tending to her flowers.
Preceding her in death were her parents: husband: Richard Morgan; siblings: Robert, Corky, and Slats Rowland; Jeannie Seikman; and Colleen Greene. Survivors include her children: Angela Morgan of Coralville, IA; David Morgan and wife Susan of Council Bluffs, IA; and Kurt Morgan and wife Stephanie of Ashland, MO; grandchildren: Monique Visocky and husband Brian of Omaha, NE; Dalton Morgan and wife Allison of Rapid City, SD; and Ashley James of Ashland, MO; great grandchildren: Kayden, Mira, Calla, Remi, Rowan, Kaysen, and Layne; sister-in-law: Betty Rowland of Florida; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery in Emerson, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Midlands Humane Society.
