Birthplace: Hastings, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Mary "Margaret" Larson, age 91, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her home in Emerson after a sudden illness. Mary "Margaret" Larson was born November 10, 1919 in Hastings, Iowa the daughter of Roy and Helen (Meeks) Quimby. She graduated from Hastings High School and was united in marriage to Nels Frederick "Fritz" Larson on September 1, 1937 in Hastings, Iowa. They farmed all of their lives near Emerson, Iowa. Margaret worked for several years at Henry Field Company in Shenandoah after they moved into Emerson in 1977. Margaret was a longtime member of the Emerson United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. Margaret enjoyed flowers, gardening, and was an animal lover, especially her cats. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Fritz Larson on January 1, 2002; brother: Roy Quimby; and sister: Aleene Hawkins. Survivors include her sons: Joe Larson of Emerson, Iowa and Jon Larson and wife Sharon of Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren: Chris Larson and wife Kelly of Leawood, Kansas and Ben Larson of Denver, Colorado; great grandchildren: Max and Lily Larson of Leawood, Kansas; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
