Birthplace: Lamoni, Iowa Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Margaret Evans age 93 of Elliott, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 13, 2003 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Margaret (Anderson) Evans was born February 15, 1910 in Lamoni, Iowa, the daughter of Elias and Mary Ellen (Oliver) Anderson. Margaret grew up in the Red Oak area and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Donald Evans on November 24, 1934 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Margaret and Donald lived and farmed on the family farm for 33 years before retiring and moving to Elliott, Iowa in 1967. They lived in Elliott for 32 years, before moving to the Griswold Care Center in 1998. Donald preceded Margaret in death on March 20, 2002 after 67 years of marriage. Margaret was a 50 year member of the Federated Women's Club, past president of P.T.A., a member of United Presbyterian Women's Association and Elliott Church of Christ Women's Club, T.O.P.S. Club, Southwest Iowa Painting Club, Square Dance Club, affiliated with RDLS Church, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the JUG (Just Us Girls) Club for many years. Margaret was also an avid painter and antique collector. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald; 3 brothers, William Anderson, Milton Anderson and Lawrence Anderson; 2 sisters, Ida Anderson and Mary Kessel. Margaret is survived by two sons: Joe Evans and his wife Ila of Red Oak, Iowa; and James Evans and his wife Sidney Evans of Omaha, Nebraska; and one daughter Mary Fuller and her husband Rich of Norwalk, Iowa; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Loren Parker officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, March 16, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Center Ridge Church or Elliott First Responders. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
