Birthplace: Missouri Valley, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Marcella Fern Shaw, age 93, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Red Oak Healthcare Community. Marcella was born November 1, 1924 in Missouri Valley, Iowa and graduated from the Calhuan, Iowa High School. She was united in marriage to Gordon Shaw on August 3, 1942 in Denison, Iowa. They had three children: Walter, Roger, and Joan. In 1962, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Marcella attended Oklahoma Osteopathic School of Nursing to become an LPN. Marcella and Gordon moved back to the Red Oak area in 1968 to take care of ailing family members. Marcella worked for 20 years at Murphy Memorial Hospital and six years at the Stanton Care Center as well as other places and was always a caregiver. Marcella enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, and taking care of her yard. She also loved RFD TV, country music, polka music, bluegrass gospel singers, and her pets. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Gordon Shaw in 1987; daughter: Joan Parris in 2013; and grandsons: Kevin Shaw and Curtis Shaw. Survivors include her sons: Walter Shaw and wife Charlotte of Georgetown, TX and Roger Shaw and wife Linda of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Mikal Parris and wife Joni of Hastings, NE; David Parris and wife Jodi of Emerson, IA; Debora Hall and husband Wayne of Collinsville, OK; Robert Parris and wife Teresa of Red Oak, IA; Ryan Shaw and Regina Wilson of Council Bluffs, IA; Skyler Shaw and wife Melissa of Red Oak, IA; Kenny Shaw and wife Karla of Creston, IA; Tracy Miller and husband Chris of Austin, TX; and Franky Shaw and wife Michelle of Glendale, CA; many great and great great grandchildren; special friend: Carla Barker of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
