Obituary

Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Lynn D. Fleming, age 80, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at his residence after a sudden illness. Lynn Dale Fleming was born October 15, 1928 in Lincoln Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Willie and Matilda (Baldozier) Fleming. He graduated from the Wales Lincoln High School in 1947 and started farming. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Chaffin on December 8, 1950 in Glenwood, Iowa. They lived and farmed near the community of Wales until moving into Red Oak in 1996. Lynn never really retired. He was a longtime member of the Wales Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and taught Sunday School. When he and Marilyn moved to Red Oak, they joined the Red Oak Presbyterian Church. Lynn was a member of the Farm Bureau for many years. He loved farming, NASCAR Racing, John Deere Tractors, Ford Trucks, and most of all spending time with his grandkids. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother: William Horace Fleming; sisters: Ida Mae Fleming; Irene Clymer; and Pearl Asell; brother: H.A. "Short" Fleming; and a grandson: Jacob Fleming. Survivors include his wife: Marilyn Fleming of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Diane Goranson and husband Kirk of Crete, Nebraska; son: Morris Fleming and wife Marsha of Emerson, Iowa; grandchildren: Hilary Croney and husband James of Gower, Missouri; Justin Goranson of Fairbury, Nebraska; Daniel Fleming of Red Oak, Iowa; and Wesley Goranson of Kearney, Nebraska; great granddaughter: Haleigh Croney of Gower, Missouri; sisters: Wilma Vieman of Omaha, Nebraska and Carolyn Bredberg Mill of Casa Grande, Arizona; sister-in-law: Cathy McGill and husband Scott of East Lansing, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Macedonia, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Monday, January 26, 2009 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Presbyterian Church or the Red Oak Public Library. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
