Birthplace: Rural Villisca, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Luella F. "Lu" Eshelman, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society. Luella Frances "Lu" Eshelman was born April 27, 1924 near Villisca, Iowa the daughter of George and Lela (Fisher) Helberg. She attended country school and later worked for Berry Seed Company in Clarinda and then the Lisle Manufacturing Company. Luella was united in marriage to Robert Eshelman on November 21, 1953 in Maryville, Missouri. They moved to Red Oak in 1957. Lu was a homemaker and worked at the Murphy Calendar Company for ten years. She enjoyed her time after that, taking care of all of her grandkids. Lu also enjoyed, crocheting, camping, traveling, and spending time with family. Lu was a long time member of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband: Robert Eshelman of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Gloria Mainquist and husband Marlin of Villisca, Iowa; Merlin Eshelman and wife Michelle of Omaha, Nebraska; and Shari Woods of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Stephanie Mainquist of Red Oak, Iowa; Christopher Mainquist of Lincoln, Nebraska; Philip Eshelman of Shenandoah, Iowa; Megan Eshelman, John Eshleman, and Danielle Eshelman all of Omaha, Nebraska ; Justin Archer and wife Nicole of Corning, Iowa; Kyle Archer of Red Oak, Iowa; and Ember Erickson and special friend Danny Adams of Red Oak, Iowa; brother: Russell Helberg and wife Bernice of Nyssar, Oregon; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial will be in the North Page Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Iowa Hospice. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
