Birthplace: Stanton, Iowa Resided In: Stanton, Iowa Louise A. Johnson, age 91, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the Stanton Care Center. Louise Augusta Johnson was born October 1, 1916 in Stanton, Iowa the daughter of Knute and Lydia (Malmberg) Hallquist. She was raised in Stanton graduating from Stanton High School in 1934. Louise was united in marriage to Helmer Johnson on April 25, 1943 in Stanton, Iowa. She worked at Connors Department Store in Red Oak then owned and operated her own store in Stanton called the White City Variety Store. She also operated a Swedish craft store from the farm where she and Helmer lived. Louise was known throughout the area for her rugs that were woven on the loom. She was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church, Entre Nous, and the Garden Club as she loved flowers. Her favorite was the African Violet. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Helmer on April 19, 1989; two sons: Kenneth and Carroll; sister: Lorraine Larson; and brother: Donald Hallquist. Survivors include her children: Marvin Johnson and wife Terri of Edmond, Oklahoma; Howard Johnson and wife Jeanne of Red Oak, Iowa; Warren Johnson and wife Debbie of Lindsborg, Kansas; Marlene Peterson and husband Don of Kansas City, Missouri; and Elaine Hinton and husband Mike of Columbia, Missouri; daughter-in-law: Kaye Linda Johnson of Spokane, Washington; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton with Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli officiating. Burial will be in the Mamre Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-9 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
