Birthplace: Rural Grant, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Loretta M. Barr, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Loretta Marie Barr was born October 21, 1919 near Grant, Iowa the daughter of Ralph and Louise (Lindner) Vetter. She was raised in the Grant area graduating from Grant High School in 1937. After graduation Loretta worked for Wilson Concrete. She was united in marriage to Glen Barr on June 18, 1943. They lived in Oklahoma for a short time while Glen was in Basic Training before the war. When Glen went overseas, Loretta moved back to Grant. Upon Glen's return from WWII they farmed until moving into Red Oak in 2000. Loretta was a member of the Pilot Grove United Methodist Church, Elliott Research Club, "Neighborhood" Club, and a former 4 H Leader. She also loved to square dance. Survivors include her husband Glen Barr of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Nancy Mundorf and husband Gary of Griswold, Iowa; and Joann Moss and husband Tom of Elliott, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Jeffrey Mundorf and wife Charity of Red Oak, Iowa; John Mundorf and wife Sara of Skidmore, Missouri; James Mundorf of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Joshua Chambers of Griswold, Iowa; Jennifer Dawson of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Jessica Roll and husband Jason of Monticello, Iowa; 5 great grandchildren: Walker, Morgan, Josephine, Rylee, and Hadley Mundorf; 2 sisters: Maxine Orstad of Griswold, Iowa; and Dorothy Gridley and husband Kenneth of Villisca, Iowa; brother: Merlin Vetter and wife Jan of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sisters-in-law: Ina Andrews of Red Oak, Iowa; and Edith Barr of Boonville, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, May 7, 2004 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gordon Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, May 6, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
