Birthplace: Council Bluffs, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Lonnie "Pete" Petersen, age 60, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at his home. Lonnie Elliott "Pete" Petersen was born November 22, 1943 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the son of Paul and Coral (Macklind) Petersen. He was raised in Council Bluffs and attended school there. Pete served in the Army in the 60's and was united in marriage to Carol Holste in 1968. Pete moved to Colorado in 1972 and lived there for many years. During this time he went to work in Alaska on the trucks that worked the pipeline. He did that for 2 years. On May 10, 1980 he was united in marriage to Joyce Albrecht in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1998 Pete and Joyce moved to Red Oak, Iowa where he started Pete's Construction Company. Pete enjoyed his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, camping, square dancing, bowling, country and western music, and was an outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his father and a niece. Survivors include his wife: Joyce Petersen of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 sons: Lonnie Russell and wife Shana of Woodstock, Georgia; and Erwin Russell and wife Kim of Decatur, Illinois; mother: Coral Petersen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; step-son: Dale Albrecht and wife Sandy of Arvada, Colorado; step-daughter: Cassie Decker and husband Tony of Red Oak, Iowa; 8 grandchildren: Jacob and Jeremy Russell of Woodstock, Georgia; J.D. & D.J. Albrecht of Arvada, Colorado; and Alicia, Katie, Phillip, & Renee Decker of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 sisters: Paula Woods and husband Jerry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Patti Rief and husband Michael of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Janette Bell and husband Charlie of Dallas, Texas; brother: Gary Petersen and wife Judy of Anamosa, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, December 1, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor David MacDonald officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM Sunday, November 30, 2003 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Family Support Group of the 1168th Transportation Company or the Red Oak Fire Department. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
