Birthplace: Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Lois Marie McCoy, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at her residence. Lois was born December 11, 1927 the daughter of Earl and Blanche (Damewood) Sickels. She graduated from Coburg High School and started teaching at West #9 school near Coburg. Later she was a substitute teacher at Red Oak, Coburg, Wales, and Stennett. Lois was united in marriage to Paul McCoy on January 3, 1948 in Tabor, Iowa. They made their home in Red Oak all of their married life. Lois was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a member of Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1960. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, fishing, and e-mailing family and friends on her computer. Lois was an accomplished seamstress and had a sewing shop in her home for many years. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: Paul McCoy on January 12, 2013; son: Micheal "Micky" McCoy; daughter-in-law: Sharon McCoy; and sister: Mary Jo Tackitt. Survivors include her sons: Robert McCoy and wife Judi of Scottsdale, AZ and Max "Tony" McCoy of Loveland, CO; grandchildren: Melinda Lucky and husband John of Oakland, IA; Michele Johnson and fiancé Gerry Gatzemeyer of Sioux City, IA; Emily DeFoor and husband Chris of Ft. Collins, CO; Susan Darr and husband Brandon of Homer, AK; and Marie Zimenoff and husband Aaron of Ft. Collins, CO; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister: Joy Frame of Lincoln, NE; brothers-in-law: Robert McCoy and wife Pauline of Creston, IA and Jerry McCoy of Louisville, CO; sisters-in-law: Carolyn Hansen of South Dakota; Donna McCoy of Baypoint, CA; and Barbara McCoy of Centralia, FL; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
