Birthplace: South Dakota Resided In: Bellevue, Nebraska Lois Kennedy, age 82, of Bellevue, Nebraska formerly of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Bellevue, Nebraska after an extended illness. Lois O. Kennedy was born August 27, 1919 in South Dakota. She graduated from High School in South Dakota and shortly after that the family moved to California. This is where Lois met Claude "Ellie" Kennedy. They were united in marriage on July 25, 1942 in Yuma, Arizona. Lois worked as a riveter for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft during World War II before they moved back to Red Oak. Lois was employed by Union Carbide for 28 years retiring in 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Claude "Ellie" Kennedy on July 22, 1992; 2 brothers; and a sister: Survivors include her son: David Kennedy and his wife Kristine of Bellevue, Nebraska; 2 daughters: Judy Gates and her husband Martin of Ft. Worth, Texas; and Shirley Calderone and her husband Ron of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, August 19, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Sunday, August 18, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
