Red Oak, Iowa Lois Darlene Dimmitt, age 85, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Red Oak Healthcare Community. Lois was born September 30, 1929 in Prescott, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Lily (Blazek) Gibson. She was raised in the Prescott area and graduated from Prescott High School where she enjoyed playing basketball. Lois was united in marriage to Olin Lovig on August 27, 1950 and three children were born to this union: Barry, Kay, and Jan. After marriage Lois and Olin lived in Villisca. Lois was united in marriage to Wade Dimmitt on December 30, 1977 in Red Oak, Iowa where they lived all of their married life. Over the years, Lois worked at Johnson Hotel, part time at Johnny's Steakhouse, and retired from a long career with Eveready Battery Company. She enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, camping, and traveling.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Wade Dimmitt on March 27, 2015; sisters: Alice Highsmith and Connie Williamson; and brother: John Gibson: Survivors include her children: Barry Lovig and wife Lisa of Red Oak; Kay Howard and husband Nick of St. Joseph, MO; and Jan Lovig of Shenandoah, IA; step-son: David Dimmitt and wife Helen of Red Oak; grandchildren: Christel Nelson and husband Eric of Red Oak; Elizabeth Jonas and husband Pat of St. Joseph; Zachary Lovig and wife Grace of Chicago, IL; Caleb Lovig and wife Sarah of Omaha, NE; Sara Dimmitt of London, England; Ryan Dimitt and Chris Dimmitt of Voorheesville, NY; brother: Karl Gibson of California; and many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date with interment of the cremated remains to be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
