Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Lois Boeye, age 82, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at the Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Lois Billings Boeye was born March 12, 1926 in Red Oak, Iowa the daughter of Floyd and Edna (Ahrends) Billings. She was reared in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School. She attended Lindenwood College and the University of Iowa where she met her future husband John Boeye. They married on August 22, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa at the First Congregational United Church of Christ. They lived in Iowa City while John was in Law School and upon his graduation they moved back to Red Oak in 1950. Lois was a homemaker who was active as a Girl Scout Leader and a Cub Scout Leader for many years. She loved traveling and entertaining family and friends. Lois was a long time member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ as well as Women's Fellowship. She was very active in the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she volunteered at the Lemon Tree Coffee and Gift Shop and she was one of the members who established the first Library at the hospital. She was a wonderful cook and did a lot of baking for the coffee shop at the hospital. Lois was also a long time member of the Red Oak Country Club. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband: John F. Boeye on June 13, 1998 and a sister: Katie Billings. Survivors include her children: Barbara Anderson and husband Ken of Preston, Iowa; John Billings "Bill" Boeye and wife Jennifer of Red Oak, Iowa; and Robert F. "Bob" Boeye and wife Peggy of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren: Jennifer Lane and husband John of Williamsburg, Iowa; Wendy Aanonson and husband Erik of Shenandoah, Iowa; Beau Boeye of Red Oak, Iowa; Juhianna Boeye of Red Oak, Iowa; and Macartnie Boeye of Red Oak, Iowa; great grandchildren: Anna, Sam, Jaycie, and Natalie; sister-in-law: Margaret Swanson of Des Moines, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Elizabeth Dilley officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the First Congregational United Church of Christ or the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
