Birthplace: Council Bluffs, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Linda Rose Patterson, age 65, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Linda was born January 8, 1949 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Herman Judson and Ethel May (Finley) Coppock. She was raised in Henderson, Iowa where she attended elementary school and Henderson Christian Church. Due to trauma at birth, Linda was diagnosed as legally blind. She was enrolled at the School For The Blind in Des Moines for a short time. She enjoyed watching TV, playing with her dogs, and going on trips to Oregon to visit Grandma Rose Finley and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Linda met Steve Shaw and they were married in 1971. They had one daughter: Peggy Sue. They later divorced. In 1984, she met and married Charles Patterson. They lived in Coin and Emerson before settling in Red Oak, Iowa. They enjoyed TV, eating out, music, and their dog: Shania. Three weeks ago Linda entered Good Samaritan Society for some physical therapy for her legs. At her passing the family knows that Linda can now see everything very clearly. Preceding her in death were her grandparents; parents; infant brother; nephew: Scott Magers; and brothers-in-law: Richard Magers and Ray Patterson. Survivors include her husband: Charlie Patterson of Red Oak. Daughter: Peggy Shaw of Burlington Junction, MO; sister: Judy Magers of Emerson, IA; nephews: Drew Magers and wife Angie of Emerson, IA and Chad Magers and wife Isha of Honolulu, HI; niece: Libby Grummert and husband Vertis of Guthrie, OK; great nephews: Zachary Grummert, Jud Magers, and Ethan Wright; great niece: Sara Grummert; aunt: Beanie (Finley) Olson and husband Bob of Albany, OR; brother-in-law: Larry Patterson and wife Carol of Glenwood, IA; many cousins and friends including special friend: Darlene Warren of Red Oak. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Farm Creek Cemetery at Henderson, Iowa with Pastor Danette Johns officiating. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
