Birthplace: Byers, Colorado Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Lila E. Ellison, age 86, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Lila E. Ellison was born April 22, 1917 in Byers, Colorado the daughter of Holcombe and Phebe (McAllen) Ewing. She spent her younger years in Missouri and married Alva Ellison on December 23, 1933 in Mountain View, Missouri. Lila and Alva moved to Iowa in 1937. Lila started working for the Union Carbide plant in 1948 and moved to Red Oak in 1950. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Lila was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Henry Ewing; and 3 sisters: Mona Ellison, Gladys McGuire, and Alta Ewing. Survivors include her 2 daughters: Martha Edwards and her husband Rex of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Doris Jensen and her husband Henry of Red Oak, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Sheryl Smith and her husband Mick of Palermo, Maine; David McFarland and his wife Diane of Red Oak, Iowa; Allen Jensen and his wife Suzanne of Kirkman, Iowa; and LaDonna Jensen of Red Oak, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren: Jennifer Anderson, Daniel Smith, Shelley Dibiase, Nora Smith, Donald Smith, Zachariah McFarland, Zebulon McFarland, Jacob McFarland, Leanna Jensen, Shaun Jensen, Kevin Jensen, and Chastity; many great great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Harold Ewing and his wife Reva of Walla Walla, Washington; and Ace Ewing and his wife Frances of Denver, Colorado; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends as well as her much loved Chihuahua: Midget. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, February 28, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Red Oak with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 7-8 PM Friday, February 27, 2004 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or the American Diabetes Association. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
