Birthplace: Macedonia, IA Resided In: Red Oak, IA Funeral services for Lester DeBolt, age 91 of Red Oak, Iowa will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Emerson Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation with the family present will take place on Tuesday evening, June 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. A memorial fund is being established. The Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak is in charge of arrangements. Lester Edward DeBolt was born March 20, 1921 in Macedonia, Iowa, the son of Lester Lorenzo and Matilda Katherine (Kruse) DeBolt. He passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 31, 2012 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 11 days. Lester grew up in the Wales area and graduated from Henderson High School. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps where he was a crew chief on the B-24 bombers. In 1950, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Jean Selser. This union was blessed with three children; John, Jean and Jeffrey. Lester worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline Company of North America for over 35 years. He also farmed for many years. He loved to be outdoors where he could hunt and fish. He also enjoyed woodworking and refurbishing old furniture. Another hobby of Lester's was boating. He made his own boats and enjoyed being on the water. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jeffrey; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn DeBolt of Red Oak, Iowa; his children, John Lester DeBolt of Carroll, Iowa, Jean Louise Friesen and her husband Milford of Douglas, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Laura McNatt and husband Jason of Urbandale, IA; Cara Bloom and husband Dustin of Appleton, WI; Emily DeBolt and James DeBolt of Carroll, IA; Sally Stoakes and husband Dan of Omaha, NE; Susanah Friesen and fiancé Justin Case of Douglas, NE; and Eric DeBolt of Bode, IA; great grandchildren: Alexis, Weston, Evelyn, and Mitchell Stoakes; Owen and Oliver Case; Elyse Bloom; and Ellison and Ailey McNatt; a brother, Bob DeBolt and his wife Marge of Charles City, Iowa; a sister, Vivian Hicks of Stanton, Iowa; along with many other relatives and friends.
