Obituary

Birthplace: Montgomery County, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa formerly Stanton Lester R. Bredberg, age 87, of Red Oak, Iowa formerly of Stanton, Iowa passed away Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Lester Rosenius Bredberg was born August 3, 1921 in Grant Township of Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Otto and Anna (Tell) Bredberg. Lester started farming at a young age and farmed all of his life in the Montgomery and Page County areas. He was baptized and confirmed in the Covenant Church. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Peterson on November 28, 1953 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak. Lester was a member of the First Covenant Church for many years where he served in many capacities including Trustee and Deacon. He was a member of the Montgomery County Fair Board, the Farm Bureau, was a 4-H leader and great supporter of the youth, and loved to have coffee and visit with friends at every opportunity. Lester will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife: Jeanette Bredberg of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Marlen Bredberg of Laurens, South Carolina; Kristin Williams and husband Jeff of Hastings, Nebraska; and Elaine Scheidecker and husband Craig of Smithville, Missouri; grandchildren: Becky Williams of New York City, New York; Andy Williams and Aaron Williams of Hastings, Nebraska; and Luke Scheidecker and John Paul Scheidecker of Smithville, Missouri; sister: Dorothy Ann Moser of Indianola, Iowa; brother-in-law: Keith Peterson and wife Jeanie of Stanton, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, June 19, 2009 at the First Covenant Church with Rev. Alan Dean officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30-8 PM Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the First Covenant Church. Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church or the Physical Therapy Department at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
