Leslie Lee King, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at his home, one day before his 78th birthday. Leslie was born May 14, 1946, in Hamburg, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Selina (Allbee) King. He was raised in Thurman, Iowa, and graduated from Tabor High School in the class of 1964. Leslie was united in marriage to Juanita James on June 27, 1969, in Stanton, Iowa. They lived in many different places throughout the years and settled in Hamburg, Iowa where he worked for Missouri Beef for 31 years. He and Juanita moved to Red Oak in 2000. Over the years, Leslie was an Eagles member in Hamburg, Nebraska City, and Red Oak. He loved music and played guitar in many bands for many years. Leslie was also a member of the Red Oak CB Club. He was known to have a great sense of humor, was a practical joker, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Leslie cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.
Survivors include his wife: Juanita of Red Oak, IA; children: Kimberly Hammons of Nebraska City, NE; Michael King and wife Becky of Red Oak, IA; and Bryan King of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Ashley Bartholomew and husband Ryan Mullins of Sidney, IA; Madison Hammons and significant other Jeremy Spidell of Nebraska City, NE; Cassandra Fish and husband Ralph of Red Oak, IA; Darien Borem and husband Bill of Red Oak, IA; Elizabeth Dumler and significant other Mason Baker of Council Bluffs, IA; Alice Duckett and special friend Kyle Pastore of Red Oak, IA; and Daniel King of Corning, IA; adopted grandchildren: Dustin Perry and family and Randa Culley and family; great grandchildren: Zakkery, Hudsyn, Evelyn, Cymber, Castiel, Clark, Penelope, and one on the way; brother: Kenneth King and wife Deanna of Glenwood, IA; sister-in-law: Nancy Latus and husband Hank of Stanton, IA; brothers-in-law: Willie James and wife Jeffery of California; Allan James and wife Janice of Aubrey, TX; and Jerry James of Tarkio, MO; many nieces, nephews, and other friends and family including special family Dustin Swagel and wife Amy; Gustin Swagel and wife Olivia; and Madelyn Swagel.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
