Birthplace: Grant City, Missouri Resided In: Stanton, Iowa Leola Sexton, age 92, of Stanton, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. M. Leola Sexton was born April 28, 1918 in Grant City, Missouri the daughter of Edgar M. and Cecile (Hontz) Gillpatrick. She was raised in Missouri where she attended high school. She was united in marriage to Harvey W. Sexton on April 14, 1935 in Albany, Missouri. They moved to Griswold, Iowa where they farmed until 1950. Then they moved to Red Oak where Harvey worked at Union Carbide. In 1960, they moved to Stanton, Iowa. Leola worked for a short time at Union Carbide but was a homemaker all of her life. Leola was a longtime member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge and enjoyed camping and crocheting. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband: Harvey W. Sexton, Sr. in 1996; son: Raymond Lee Sexton in 1940; son: Harvey Sexton, Jr. in 1991; daughter: Joyce Werth in 1993; son: Ron Sexton in 1995; grandson: Robbie Govig in 1986; sister: Barbara Gillpatrick; and two brothers: Lloyd and Kenneth Gillpatrick. Survivors include her daughters: Stella Govig and husband Ron of Red Oak, Iowa; Connie Ramsey of Grant, Iowa; and Beverly Semmons and husband Butch of Stanton, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren; sisters: Virginia Hill and husband Bill of Evona, Missouri and Betty Duncan of St. Joseph, Missouri; brothers: A.C. Gillpatrick and wife Connie of Hemple, Missouri; Larry Gillpatrick of Lewisburg, Kansas; Gerald Gillpatrick and wife Joyce of St. Joseph, Missouri; and Bob Gillpatrick and wife Sandy of Overland Park, Kansas; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
