Birthplace: McCook, Nebraska Resided In: Elliott, Iowa Lee F. Baumbach, age 81, of Elliott, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Lee Fred Baumbach was born April 13, 1928 in McCook, Nebraska the son of Lorenz and Clara (Unger) Baumbach. The family moved to Iowa when Lee was nine years old. Lee lived all of his life in southwest Iowa. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Henderson American Legion. Lee was united in marriage to Joan McKern on August 21, 1970 in Fremont, Nebraska. They moved to Elliott, Iowa in 1988. Lee farmed most of his life and most recently worked with Dan Phelps and Nishna Farming. He enjoyed gardening, watching wrestling, watching the RFD channel, old tractors, and toy tractors. Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter: Mary Ann Warner; son: Fred Baumbach; wife: Joan Baumbach on May 21, 2002; brother: Marvel Baumbach; and sisters: Luella Wilson and Loretta Laire. Survivors include his children: Gary Baumbach of Red Oak, Iowa; Les Baumbach and wife Cindy of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Becky Keith and husband Dwight of Mountain Center, California; and Candace Baumbach of Elliott, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister: Betty Smith and husband Gene of Villisca, Iowa; brother: Harold Baumbach and wife Grace of Villisca, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Macedonia, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8 PM Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
