Birthplace: Missouri Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Lee Carole Barr, age 66, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Care Center after an extended illness. Lee Carole Barr was born February 16, 1946 in Eldon, Missouri the daughter of Kieffer Roland and Lee Anna (Ross) Lehman. The family moved to a farm north of Red Oak when Lee Carole was five years old. She attended school at Wales Lincoln and church at the Stratton United Methodist. Lee Carole graduated from Red Oak High School in 1963 and attended business school in Omaha, Nebraska. She moved to Minnesota where she was working and met her future husband, Leo Grossman. They were married August 3, 1968 and later moved to Wabasso, Minnesota in 1970. Lee Carole worked at a nursing home and the John Deere dealership. Leo preceded her in death in 1992. Lee Carole was united in marriage to Wayne Barr on January 1, 1994 in Reno, Nevada and they made their home in Red Oak, Iowa. Lee Carole worked for many years at Houghton State Bank and most recently at Fareway Grocery Store. Over the years she enjoyed bowling, card playing, camping, playing Bunco, going to the casino, and spending time with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband: Leo Grossman. Survivors include her husband: Wayne Barr of Red Oak, IA; children: Sheila Grossman of Minneapolis, MN; Shawn Grossman and wife Melissa of Owattona, MN; and Melissa Tarbox of Red Oak, IA; step-children: Tracey Earl of Seminole, FL; Jeri Chapa and husband Saul of Omaha, NE; and Bill Barr and wife Venus of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Desiree McGinley, Drystan Freking, Miranda Grossman, Michael Grossman, Jerrica Tarbox, Darian Tarbox, Zach Earl, Amanda Earl, Alex Chapa, Saul Chapa, Jr., Allison Barr, Jackson Barr, and Elizabeth Barr; brothers: Kieffer "Ross" Lehman and wife Betty of Fresno, CA and Harvey Lehman and wife Marlene of Rockford, IL; foster sister: Lois Barnett and husband Bud of Red Oak, IA; mother-in-law: Dolly Barr of Red Oak, IA; brothers-in-law: Dennis Barr and wife Peg of Red Oak, IA; William Barr and wife Bev of St. Joseph, MO; Jim Grossman and wife Margaret of Benson, MN; Ollie Grossman and wife Mary Ellen of Morris, MN; Clete Grossman of Benson, MN; sisters-in-law: Patricia Barr of Phoenix, AZ; Sally Ratcliff and husband Larry of Red Oak, IA; Barb Grossman of Hastings, MN; Charlene Grossman of Fergus Falls, MN; Roseann Boe of Kentucky; and Kate Powell and husband Jay of Indiana; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak, IA. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM October 24, 2012 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Friday, October 26, 2012 at the St. Anne Cemetery in Wabasso, MN. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Church or the Mobility For Independence Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
