Birthplace: Rural Coburg, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa LaVonne Fisher, age 88, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. LaVonne was born October 30, 1925 near Coburg, Iowa the daughter of Oscar and Abrigayle (Foust) Josephson. She graduated from Coburg High School in 1943 and started working for Thos. D. Murphy Company. LaVonne was united in marriage to Richard E. "Rip" Fisher on March 15, 1946 in Kansas. LaVonne raised her family and later returned to work at the Murphy Company. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the 15-20 year club at Thos. D. Murphy Company. LaVonne enjoyed shopping, gardening, decorating her home, christmas lights, and spending time with her family. LaVonne had been a resident of Arlington Place since 2007. Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter: Patricia K. "Patsy" Fisher; husband: Richard E. "Rip" Fisher; son-in-law: Jerry Swanson; and brothers: Glenn, Wendell, and Marwin Josephson. Survivors include her daughter: Cathy Swanson of Red Oak; son: Michael "Mick" Fisher and wife Marlys of Red Oak; grandchildren: Laurie Van Scoy and husband Jeff of Red Oak; Wendy Ensley and husband David of Glenwood, IA; Heidi Wendt and husband Aaron of Red Oak; Nicole Kathol and husband Jay of Council Bluffs, IA; Richard E. Fisher and wife Tianna of Red Oak; and Tricia Spangenberg and husband Jared of Harlan, IA; great grandchildren: Abbey Smith and husband Adam of Red Oak; Allie Strauss and husband Trinton of Elliott, IA; Andi Van Scoy and Nathan Stork of Massena, IA; Benjamin and Samantha Ensley of Glenwood; Madison, Kamryn, and Tori Wendt of Red Oak; Alivia, Preston, Beau, and Eden Kathol of Council Bluffs; Masen and Hudson Fisher of Red Oak; and Jacob, Brett, and Kate Spangenberg of Harlan; great great grandchildren: Aiden and Aspen Smith of Red Oak and Austyn Strauss of Elliott; sister: Eloise Wagner of Red Oak; and sisters-in-law: Katie Fisher of Red Oak; Juanita Fisher of Eugene, OR; and Lois Fisher of Clarinda, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Fred Pilecki officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the LaVonne Fisher memorial fund. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
