Larry Edwin Straight, age 80, of Emerson, Iowa, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Red Oak Rehab and Care Center. Larry was born July 7, 1942, in Emerson, Iowa, the son of Ivan and Zelma (Sellers) Straight. He attended school in Emerson, Iowa and went on to work on different pipelines throughout the years, retiring in 2007. Larry was united in marriage to Barbara Lasley on April 5, 1960 in Clarinda, Iowa. They made their home for many years in Emerson, Iowa, where Larry continued to live after Barbara preceded him in death in 2017. Larry's hobbies included hunting, shooting, woodworking, motorcycling, speed boating, and watching sports. He was very mechanically inclined and was a "jack of all trades".

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife: Barbara Straight on December 25, 2017; two children: Larry Scott Straight and Kristie Lynn Straight; and siblings: Leo, Dale, Kenny, Dorothy, and Phillip. Survivors include his children: Mick Straight and wife Lisa of Fredericksburg, TX; Karin Smith and husband Terry of Nebraska City, NE; and Brian Straight and wife Myshell of Glenwood, IA; 12 grandchildren: Nick Reek and wife Sully of Vacaville, CA; Krista Straight (Corey) of Red Oak, IA; Matthew Straight and wife Lexi of Des Moines, IA; Drake Pickett of Kansas City, MO; Jessica Womochil and husband Robert of Nebraska City, NE; Heather Wilken and husband Quentin of Nebraska City, NE; Scott Smith of Syracuse, NE; Chelsea Hale of Lincoln, NE; Devon Hale (Brooke) of Villisca, IA; Cameo Stephens of Peoria, AZ; Madeline Straight of Chicago, IL; and Shane Huston (Morgan) of Essex, IA; many great grandchildren; sister: Deloris "Babe" Elkins of Anaheim, CA; in-laws: Nancy Straight of Merrimack, NH; Ruth Lasley of Central Point, OR; Jack Lasley and wife Kay of Red Oak, IA; Joyce Black of Anaheim, CA; and Danny Lasley of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7 PM Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
