Obituary

Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Larry Wayne Sands, age 65, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha after a sudden illness. Larry was born April 16, 1948 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Wayne and Colleen (Vanderhoof) Sands. He was raised and lived all of his life in Red Oak. He was united in marriage to Vicki Adams and three children were born to this union: Beth, Becky, and Cathy. He later married Roxanna McCuen and one daughter was born to this union: Jody. Over the years, Larry worked for Wilson Concrete, Red Oak Greenhouses, and D & L Company. He loved working on cars and trucks and was a great carpenter who always enjoyed woodworking. Larry also had a great love for his pets, especially his cats. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his daughters: Beth Griffeth and husband Tom, Becky Sands, Cathy Bush and special friend Richard Linfor, Jody Sands and Dawn Dozier and husband Richard all of Red Oak; grandchildren: Kya Torres and husband Gilberto, Dakota Bush, Lexiz Moreno, and Chelsea Griffeth all of Red Oak; great grandchildren: Marcus, Anali, and Jace Torres all of Red Oak; brother: Rick Sands and wife Lois of Red Oak; sister: Rita Bienhoff and husband Mark of Red Oak; and many other relatives and close friends including Ian Haas of Red Oak. A celebration of life service will be held 2 PM Friday, April 18, 2014 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family of Larry Sands. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
