Larry was born August 15, 1955, in Anchorage, Alaska, the son of Alvin and Florence (Kemp) Eggeling. Being a military family, they lived in many places throughout the years including Anchorage, Alaska; Spain; Rapid City, South Dakota; Trenton, Nebraska; Omaha and Bellevue, Nebraska where Larry graduated high school in 1973. During his adult years he had also lived in Malvern, Glenwood, and most recently Red Oak, Iowa. Larry was united in marriage to Sally Hanson on July 24, 1982, in Bellevue, Nebraska. Larry was a road grader for many years with Mills County Secondary Roads. Larry had quite a sense of humor and was known, according to him to be the “Worlds Best Fisherman”. He also coined many phrases the kids will always remember such as “still kicking”, “when we get there, then there we will be”, “do as I say, not as I do”, and “keep my duck in a row”, and yes, he only meant one duck! Larry was an outdoorsman who lived fishing, hunting, and camping. Other hobbies included playing board games, playing guitar, and listening to 60’s, 70’s, and 80’ rock ‘n’ roll. He was also a huge Cheech and Chong fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Rick and Ron Eggeling; sister: Sonja Hilva; and step-son: Rick Borem. Survivors include his children: Adam Eggeling of Denison, IA and Donnita Kent and husband Burton of Council Bluffs, IA; partner in life: Carol Eggeling of Red Oak; step-children: Ryan Borem of Ohio; Ray Borem and wife Annie of Red Oak; Robin Grove and husband James of Las Vegas, NV; and Ron Borem of Illinois; 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers: Paul Eggeling and wife Paula of Florida and Rod Eggeling of Glenwood, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
