Birthplace: Red Oak, Iowa Resided In: Grant, Iowa Kirk Stoneking, age 40, of Grant, Iowa passed away Friday, May 10, 2002 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after a brief illness. Kirk David Stoneking was born September 11, 1961 in Red Oak, Iowa the son of Ralph and Jean (Murren) Stoneking. He was raised in Elliott, Iowa and graduated from the Griswold High School in 1979. Kirk was united in marriage to Carolyn Allender in 1983 at the Climax Church in Montgomery County, Iowa. Kirk was a lifelong resident of the Elliott, Iowa area working for Murren and Westerlund, White House Lawns, and Hawkeye Ford Mercury. He was a member of the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Griswold and the Grant Volunteer Fire Department. Kirk was preceded in death by his father: Ralph Stoneking; and his grandparents: Dean and Dorothy Murren; and Gerald Stoneking. Survivors include his son: Kirby Stoneking of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 daughters: Amanda and Samantha Stoneking both of Red Oak, Iowa; Mother: Jean Stoneking of Elliott, Iowa; grandparents: Linnea and Amos Meeks of Elliott, Iowa; 2 sisters: Joy Koenig and her husband Dale of Pleasantville, Iowa; and Amy Stoneking of Griswold, Iowa; 4 brothers: Mark Stoneking and his wife Bobbi of Elliott, Iowa; Kent Stoneking of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Brian Stoneking and his wife Cindy of Omaha, Nebraska; and Roger Stoneking of Grant, Iowa; 4 nieces, 5 nephews, 1 great nephew, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, May 13, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Father Paul Mahowald officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Elliott, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 PM Sunday, May 12, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
