Birthplace: Grant, Iowa Resided In: Grant, Iowa Kenneth D. Mueller, age 89, of Grant, Iowa passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Kenneth Darwin Mueller was born July 6, 1918 in Grant, Iowa the son of Jacob F. and Mary (Adkinson) Mueller. He graduated from Grant High School in 1935 and started working for Spiker Chevrolet. Kenneth served in the Army during WWII and was united in marriage to Ruth Phillips on April 21, 1945 in Griswold, Iowa. Kenneth worked for Spiker Chevrolet until 1955 when he started Mueller Insurance Agency located in his father's hardware store at Grant, Iowa. In 1970, Kenneth sold his business and went to work for Houghton State Bank as Vice-President in the Insurance Department at their bank in Elliott, Iowa. While he was in his 60's, Kenneth attained his real estate license. This was a tool he used in his work in helping people settle estates. He also was a notary public and was always helping someone with his stamp of approval. Kenneth even managed to find time to help Kenny Gridley with Auctions in his spare time. Over the years he was involved in many civic organizations including being the treasurer of City of Grant, member of Grant Fire Department, member of American Legion, member of Masonic Lodge,member of Order of Eastern Star, and member of Grant United Methodist Church. He was active in these organizations for well over 50 years. He also served on the Montgomery County Draft Board and was a charter member of the Montgomery County Conservation Board. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife: Ruth Mueller of Griswold, Iowa; daughter: Ramona Hetrick and husband Lee of Lincoln, Nebraska; son: John Mueller and wife Carla of Elliott, Iowa; grandchildren: Benjamin Pesjar of Lincoln, Nebraska; Rachel Pesjar Snelling and husband John of Lincoln, Nebraska; Brad Mueller of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and Allison Mueller of Ames, Iowa; great grandson: Grant Snelling of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother: Carl Mueller of Duluth, Minnesota; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, March 6, 2008 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Terry McClain officiating. Burial will be in the Grant, Iowa Cemetery. There will be a Masonic service at 6:30 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with visitation with the family to follow until 8 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Grant Fire Department or the Grant American Legion. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
