Kenneth Glen Marsden, age 80, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 4, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Kenneth was born October 7, 1941, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Lester and Evelyn (Reilly) Marsden. He graduated from Wales-Lincoln High School in 1959 and served in the United States Air Force. Upon his return from service, Ken attended AIB Business School and received his education in accounting. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he met Carolyn Knapp. They were united in marriage on September 10, 1967 in Prescott, Iowa. They moved to LeMars, Iowa, where Ken was the business manager for Pew's car dealership before moving to Red Oak in 1972. He worked for McAlpin Motors in sales and later was co-owner of K & K Auto in Red Oak. He also worked at Union Carbide before going to work for Ted Sparr Accounting and ABC Realty retiring in 2006. Ken enjoyed golfing, playing Bridge, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of Red Oak Masonic Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Joe and Jim Marsden. Survivors include his wife: Carolyn Marsden of Red Oak; sons: Scott Marsden and wife Cheryl of Papillion, Nebraska and Tim Marsden and wife Terra of Red Oak; grandchildren: Daniel Marsden and wife Morgan of Omaha, Nebraska; Emily Marsden of Papillion, Nebraska; Kyle Marsden of Papillion, Nebraska; and Lily Marsden of Red Oak; sisters-in-law: Patsy Knapp of Omaha, Nebraska; Marilyn Marsden of Red Oak; and Donnie Marsden of Indiana; his beloved cat, Angel; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church. Memorial are suggested to Christ's Cupboard Food Pantry.
