Birthplace: Lewis, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Kenneth L. Brown age 92 of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 4, 2002 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Red Oak. Kenneth Loomis Brown was born December 1, 1909 in Lewis, Iowa, the son of Edward and Maude (Loomis) Brown. At the age of seven, Kenneth moved to Grant, Iowa and went to rural school and graduated from Grant High School. Kenneth farmed his parent's farm until 1935. On February 14, 1935, Kenneth married Blanche Long in Emerson, Iowa. To this union, two sons were born, Calvin Eugene and Dennis LeRoy. Kenneth and Blanche farmed in Garfield Township until 1971, when they moved into Red Oak. Kenneth enjoyed visiting the farm each day and made farming and raising livestock his hobby. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Hawthorne United Methodist Church. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents: Edward and Maude Brown; two brothers: Lester Brown and Dow Brown; son: Dennis LeRoy Brown in 1950; one grandson: Michael Mundwilder Brown in 1990; and one brother-in-law: Clarence Long. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Blanche Brown of Red Oak; son Calvin Brown and his wife Peggy of Red Oak; grandson: Scott Brown of Red Oak; brother: Donald Brown and his wife Ruby of Bullard, Texas; many nieces and nephews including a special niece: Karen Kreiter of Bullard, Texas; and a special nephew Dwaine Long and his wife Helen of Emerson, Iowa. Funeral services for 92 year old Kenneth Loomis Brown of Red Oak will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, with Rev. Janice Carlton, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Visitation with the family will be from 7-8 PM Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the Hawthorne United Methodist Church or the Red Oak Rescue Unit. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak is in charge of arrangements.
