Kenneth Wayne “Ken” Anderson, age 73, of Villisca, Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his home. Ken was born June 14, 1952, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Carl “Hugo” and Neva (Kempton) Anderson. He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Villisca High School in 1970. He then attended Faith Baptist Bible College and graduated in 1974. He also attended Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio. During his high school and college years, Ken was very active in many sports. Throughout his career, he taught Physical Education along with other courses in Union Grove, Wisconsin, Romeoville, Illinois, and Medina, Ohio. While in Ohio, he was the Athletic Director and coached basketball and attained three state championships. Ken also coached Soccer. He moved back to the family farm in the mid 1990’s where he was passionate about his work on the farm and raising Angus cattle. He also worked for TRACO in Red Oak for 12 years and drove school bus for Southwest Valley Schools. Ken was a Farm Bureau member and attended Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak.
Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his brothers: Clifton Anderson and wife Carol of Urbandale, IA; Carl Anderson and wife Brenda of Shawnee, KS; and Keith Anderson and wife Debbie of Villisca, IA; nieces and nephews: Robert Anderson of Des Moines, IA; Sara Grabau and husband Jason of Des Moines, IA; Bridget Ortiz and husband Mark of Adrian, MO; Danielle Arnold and husband Joshua of Rich Hill, MO; Jenna Anderson of Kansas City, MO; Rachel Reeves and husband CJ of Kansas City, KS; Kyle Anderson and wife Shayla of Centralia, MO; and Michelle Hontz and husband Alex of Red Oak, IA; many great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak, Iowa.
