Kelvin Lee Jones, age 67, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Kelvin was born March 23, 1955 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Jack and Arlene (Patterson) Jones. He was raised in Red Oak graduating in the Red Oak High School Class of 1973. He went on to study at Iowa Western Community College for a short time before moving to Kansas City. Kelvin then returned to Red Oak where he worked with his dad in the family painting business. Kelvin attended Kirkwood Community College studying horse genetics in the equine program and spent many years as a painter with his father. Kelvin and his wife Robin enjoyed spending time on their acreage where they had dogs, cats, and horses. Kelvin loved animals and his acreage. He also enjoyed music and going on date night to the movies with Robin every week.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother: Harold Jones. Survivors include his wife: Robin Strand of Red Oak; sisters: Jackie Hoover and husband Sam of Atlantic, IA and Marlene Skalberg and husband Larry of Emerson, IA; brother: Dennis Jones and wife Karen of Red Oak; sisters-in-law: Merlene Jones of Beaver Lake, NE; Barb Wingerd of Glenwood, IA; Kathy Clark of Villisca, IA; Joyce Howery of Glenwood, IA; and Jona Nelson of Villisca, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service with a luncheon will be held from 2-4 PM Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Red Oak Eagles Lodge. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family of Kelvin Jones.
