Birthplace: Lincoln, Nebraska Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Keith Powell, age 83, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs after an extended illness. Keith Delbert Powell was born May 6, 1919 in Lincoln, Nebraska the son of Delbert and Clara Powell. Keith was raised in Lincoln and graduated from the Lincoln High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Keith was united in marriage to Pauline Sandquist and they lived in Red Oak after their marriage. Later he was united in marriage to Bonnie Good on June 6, 1954 in Rockport, Missouri. Keith was employed by Iowa Power and Light for 35 years retiring in 1982. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed yard work and gardening. He was also a sports enthusiast. Keith was preceded in death by his parents; Wife: Bonnie on January 7, 1986; 3 brothers: Stanley, Lloyd, and Harold Powell; and sister: Cleo Schmidt. Survivors include his son: Curtis Powell of Red Oak, Iowa; 3 daughters: Linda King and her husband Ronald of Red Oak, Iowa; Gayle Needs of Red Oak, Iowa; and Sandra Day of Des Moines, Iowa; 9 grandchildren: Ryan Powell of Red Oak, Iowa; Lori Gilleland and her husband Jeremy of Red Oak, Iowa; Carrie Gray and her husband Thomas of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Jeff King and his wife Nicole of Villisca, Iowa; Jamie Day of Red Oak, Iowa; Angelle Day of Des Moines, Iowa; Jennifer Day of Des Moines, Iowa; Megan Needs of Red Oak, Iowa; and Tanya Bright of Red Oak, Iowa; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, June 14, 2002 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Frank Schultz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. There will be open visitation at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
