Birthplace: Springdale, AR Resided In: Red Oak, IA Kathryn Judy Moates, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Kathryn was born February 10, 1934 in Springdale, Arkansas the daughter of Carl and Cliata (Cooper) Smith. She was raised in Springdale where she attended school. Kathryn was united in marriage to Clarence J. Moates and three children were born to this union: Judy, Jay, and Margie. She lived most of her adult life in Villisca, Iowa where she was a homemaker. Kathryn moved to Red Oak 12 years ago to be near her daughter. She loved crafts, tending to her flowers, and spending time with her family especially the grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter: Judy; grandson: Justin Michael Moates; and her siblings: Carl, Jr., Wayne, Bobby, Wilma Faye, Esther, Carolyn, and Bonnie. Survivors include her children: Jay Moates and wife Angela of Wickenburg, AZ and Margie Kuhn and husband Randy of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Marcus Adam Moates of Los Angeles, CA; Casey Holmes of Villisca, IA; Michelle Kuhn of Colorado Springs, CO; and Shad Kuhn and wife Amber of Omaha, NE; great grandchildren: Zoe, Ian, and Ollie Kuhn; many nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held 3 PM Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
