Obituary

Birthplace: Council Bluffs, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Kathleen L. "Kathy" Chatterton, age 62, of Red Oak, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Kathleen Lois "Kathy" Chatterton was born February 27, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Lois (Bishop) Herbert. She graduated from the Emerson, Iowa High School in 1966 and was united in marriage to Edward "Gene" Chatterton on September 10, 1966. Kathy lived all of her married life in the Red Oak area. She started work at the Thomas D. Murphy Company and then with Red Oak Community Schools where she worked for 35 years in transportation. Kathy was a member of the YMCA, the United Women's Bowling Association, and was inducted in the Bowlers Hall of Fame. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband: Edward "Gene" Chatterton of Red Oak, Iowa; daughter: Amy Murren and husband Chad of Villisca, Iowa; grandchildren: Katherine Joe Murren and Newt James Murren of Villisca, Iowa; brother: Kenneth Herbert and wife Cheryl TenEyck of Villisca, Iowa; sister: Karen Brewer and husband Ted of Emerson, Iowa; brother-in-law: Don Chatterton and wife Sharon of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law: Sharon Kay Chatterton and friend, Earl Pitts of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Pastor Craig Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Emerson, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Relay For Life. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
