Birthplace: Emerson, IA Resided In: Omaha,NE Karen Jones Rahn, age 80, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Karen was born June 8, 1938 in Emerson, Iowa the daughter of George and Hazel (Jenkins) Jones. She graduated from Wales Lincoln High School in 1955 and attended Commercial Extension Business School. Karen was an exceptional athlete and played basketball both at Wales and for Commercial Extension. She made the All American Team multiple times. Karen later would be inducted into the Iowa Basketball Hall of Fame. She started her working career with Vickers Inc. and retired in 2001. She was united in marriage to Richard Rahn on August 21, 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska where they made their home. Karen was a member of Oaks Community Church in her younger years and was currently attending Harvey Oaks Baptist Church. She was a former member of both the National Secretaries Association and Business and Professional Women and is Past President of the Omaha Sports Club. She was an avid sports enthusiast who loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers, playing golf, and attended every College World Series. Karen loved the outdoors, tending her flowers and working in her yard. She was very active in exercise and walked many miles. She loved her nieces and nephews and spending time with family. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother-in-law: Gary Honeyman. Survivors include her husband: Richard Rahn of Omaha, NE; sister: LaDonna Rossander and husband Harold of Stanton, IA; brothers: Trent Jones and wife Frances of Kansas City, KS and Larry Jones and wife Katie of Snowmass, CO; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Gomer Cemetery at Wales, Iowa. A luncheon and visitation will be held at the First Covenant Church in Red Oak following the interment service at the cemetery. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
