Karen Sue Miller, age 75, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at her home. Karen was born April 2, 1946 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the daughter of Harry Franklin and Jeanette Mary (Kissel) Cross. She was raised in Council Bluffs where she attended school. Karen was a homemaker and had lived the past 30 years in Red Oak, Iowa. She was quite artistic and enjoyed drawing. She also loved doing crafts of all kinds. Karen used to make dolls out of apples and avocados and painted acorns for Christmas ornaments. She loved painting murals on walls and refurbishing old wagons including the upholstery. Karen collected nutcrackers and old hats. She enjoyed going to Bible study at Acorn Acres where she lived for the past several years and she has always been an avid fisherman. Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings: Mary Jane, Martha, and Butch. Survivors include her companion of many years: Rod Most of Red Oak, IA; children: Pam Webster and husband Mike of Red Oak, IA; Charlie Fink and wife Roxanna of Red Oak, IA; Jody Miller and wife Lisa of Red Oak, IA; Amy Ray of Bellevue, NE; and Mark Miller and wife Brenda of Red Oak, IA; 18 grandchildren: Josh, Tera, Michael, Forrest, Alexandra, Cristopher, Savannah, Novalea, Amithist, Karen, Jody, Jr., Logan, Dmitri, Jaclynn, Aaryn, Katelyn, Kristen, and Kassidy; 26 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Gary Cross and wife Karen of Farmersville, IA; Toby Cross of Council Bluffs, IA; Tudy Donner and husband Pat of Council Bluffs, IA; Sara Corey of Oscoda, MI; and Darwin Cross and wife Wendy of Red Oak, IA; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A celebration of life service will be held 2 PM Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery.
