Karen Jones, age 73, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at her home after an extended illness. Karen was born December 6, 1950, in Red Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Gaylord and Joyce (Eggers) England. She was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1969. She attended beauty school and started as a beautician, which she did at several different times in her life. Karen was united in marriage to Dennis Jones on May 29, 1981, in St. Joseph, Missouri. They made their home in Red Oak. Over the years, as well as being a beautician, she drove a truck, worked at Hays Accounting, Hunt's Super Value, National Home Medical Company, and owned and operated Ceramicville and Red Lion Restaurant.

Karen was a wonderful cook and was known for her "famous" popcorn balls. Karen and Denny hosted the Jones Family Reunion for many years and Karen always made hot dogs cooked with onions and beer. She was known as a "Jackie of All Trades" and could accomplish anything. She canned all kinds of food as if the apocalypse was upon us. And she was very generous and would give family and friends gifts from her labor. Her pride and joy were her family, especially the grandkids. She tried to attend all their events. Her hobbies included collecting Beanie Babies and watching Hallmark movies.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother: Norm England; her in-laws: Jack and Arlene Jones; brothers-in-law: Harold Jones and Kelvin Jones; and step-grandsons: Jacob Shalters and Jay Shalters. Survivors include her husband: Dennis Jones of Red Oak; children: Toni Evans and husband Shane of Red Oak; Brandi "BJ" Wallace and husband Matt of Stanton, IA; and Brooke Adams and husband Jeremy of Stanton, IA; step-daughters: Carrie Shalters and husband Larry of Red Oak and Amanda DeVito of Red Oak; grandchildren: Tanner Jones of Red Oak; Gavin Smith of Maricopa, AZ; Kennedy and Maizey Stites of Stanton; Lexi Jones, Hayden Jones, Kaleesie Adams, and Ellarya Adams all of Stanton; step-grandchildren: Hannah Shalters, Andrew Shalters, Grace DeVito, Chloe DeVito, and Sophie DeVito all of Red Oak; great grandchildren: Riah Rinehart of Red Oak and Jackson Jones of Stanton; aunt: Peg Almquist and husband Kenny of Clarinda, IA; sisters-in-law: Sue England of Carroll, IA; Merlene Jones of Beaver Lake, NE; Jackie Hoover and husband Sam of Atlantic, IA; Marlene Skalberg and husband Larry of Emerson, IA; and Robin Strand of Glenwood, IA; and many other relatives and friends.

A time of visitation and viewing will be held from 4-6 PM Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel at 1995 G Ave., Red Oak, Iowa. A celebration of life will continue starting at 6:30 PM at the Red Oak Eagles Lodge where you will enjoy food and fellowship.
