Birthplace: Spencer, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Kailon Cox Goettsche, age 65, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, in Louisiana. Kailon was born January 14, 1956 in Spencer, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Audrey (Cox) Goettsche. The family moved to Red Oak when Kailon was very young. He graduated from Red Oak Community High School in 1974. He owned and operated These Days for many years and attended University of Iowa where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Programming. Kailon was united in marriage to Julie Glasgo on February 14, 1981 in Red Oak, Iowa. Two children were born to this union: Jordan and Kaitie. Over the years, Kailon lived in Red Oak, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids. Kailon retired from Rockwell Collins company where he was a software engineer. He returned to Red Oak in 2005 and operated Rapid Refill toner business. Kailon was united in marriage to Kim Williams Bond on July 2, 2012 in Marietta, Oklahoma. They made their home in Red Oak. Kailon loved traveling, camping, woodworking, and tinkering on anything that needed fixing. He was an avid Iowa Wrestling fan and was always willing to help someone in need. His daughter, Kaitie was willing to help Kailon when he was in need in 2017 by donating one of her kidneys when he needed a transplant. This gift allowed him to enjoy several more years of life. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister: Mary Lantz. Survivors include his wife: Kim Goettsche of Red Oak; son: Jordan Goettsche and fiancée Lauren Slater of San Diego, CA; daughter: Katie Schrobilgen and husband Jon of Cedar Rapids, IA; step-children: Damien Bond and wife Kim of Red Oak; Jesse Bond and wife Edi of Essex, IA; and Calob Bond and wife Melissa of Red Oak; grandchildren: Dawson, Brody, and Nicole Bond of Red Oak; Kadin Bradley of Auburn, AL; and Mila Bond of Red Oak; brothers: Arvid Goettsche and wife Dona of Drakesville, IA and Carl Goettsche of Sauk Rapids, MN; sister: Paula Goettsche and husband Danny Archer of Atlantic, IA; sisters-in-law: Kelly Vannausdle of Red Oak; Kathy Palmquist of Red Oak; Kerin Wright and husband Tom of Villisca, IA; and Polly Towne and husband Matt of Hastings, IA; brother-in-law: Nick Hughes and wife Meredith of Ankeny, IA; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-7 PM Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
