Kay "Allen" Rohner, age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at his home after an extended illness. Allen was born March 9, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Louise (Thomas) Rohner. He was raised in Fontanelle, Iowa, where he attended school. He served in the United States Marines and the United States Navy. Upon his return from service, he operated heavy equipment and drove a truck over the road for many years. Allen was untied in marriage to Gail Shoemaker in 1993 in Lewis, Iowa. Over the years, he lived in Davis City, Elliott, and Lewis, Iowa before moving to Arizona. Allen and Gail returned to Red Oak, Iowa, in 2012.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother: Jim Rohner. Survivors include his wife: Gail Rohner of Red Oak, IA; children: Stephanie Rohner of Colorado; Angel Kinzie of Creston, IA; Logan Bomer of Council Bluffs, IA; Emily Rohner (Tori) of Red Oak, IA; and Anthony Rohner (fiancé: Rayn) of Villisca, IA; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; sister: Linda Sulgrove of Des Moines, IA; mother-in-law: Joyce Shoemaker of Shenandoah, IA; brother-in-law: Charles Shoemaker, Jr. (Brenda) of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law: Nancy Askeland (Todd) of Atlantic, IA; Tammy Flathers of Red Oak, IA; and Joanie Mohn (Josh) of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 416 Scott Street in Fontanelle, Iowa. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Fontanelle Cemetery.
Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel of Red Oak, Iowa, is assisting the family with cremation services.
