Julie Ann McIntosh, age 70, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Julie was born February 5, 1955, in Ontario, Oregon, the daughter of Arnold and Pearl (Miller) Mason. She was raised in Payette, Idaho, and graduated from Payette High School. Julie was united in marriage to Joseph Simonsen in October of 1975 and two sons were born to this union: Adam and Heath. She furthered her education at Boise State University in the hospitality program and started working for a hotel. Julie joined the Unites States Navy in 1978 and served until 1982. During this time, Julie was united in marriage to Otto "Mac" McIntosh on February 14, 1980, at Pearl Harbor Hawaii and one son was born to this union: Lance. They lived in many different places during Mac's time in the service. When he retired, they moved to Iowa and lived in the same home near Red Oak for many years. Julie and Mac operated the restaurant at Viking Lake from 2004 until 2010. Julie then worked for the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in the kitchen and later became the Dietary Manager. She received her dietary management certification from South Dakota State University. Julie retired in 2017. While living in California, she served on the Santee School PTA, was the ombudsman for USS Bagley in San Diego, and was ombudsman for COM DES Group 3. While in Iowa, she was a member of the Dietary Managers Association and she and Mac served as campground hosts at Viking Lake. She loved the outdoors, gardening, mowing and doing crafts.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers: Arnold and Jeff Mason; and sister: Sandra Clayton. Survivors include her husband: Otto "Mac" McIntosh of Red Oak; sons: Adam Simonsen of Kansas City, MO; Heath Simonsen and wife Stephanie of Payette, ID; and Lance McIntosh and wife Sabrina of Liberty, MO; grandchildren: Koryl Green and husband Tristan of Payette, ID; Mercedes Phillips and husband Wyatt of Payette, ID; Jade Simonsen of Payette, ID; and Dorian McIntosh of Liberty, MO; great grandchildren: Kayden, Lyam, and Daphne Green and Ryver and Brinzley Malabo; sisters-in-law: Betty Pogge of Carson, IA and Rebecca Hall and husband Michael of Macedonia, IA; brother-in-law: Roger McIntosh and wife Karen of Horton, KS; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life visitation will be held from 10 AM until Noon on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
