Birthplace: Houston, Missouri Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Julia White, age 85, of Emerson, Iowa passed away Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak after an extended illness. Julia Caroline White was born January 6, 1919 in Houston, Missouri the daughter of William Franklin and Nancy Caroline (Pruitt) Haney. When Julia was 10 years old the family moved to the Emerson area. When Julia was out of school she worked in child care and at a restaurant. She was united in marriage to Vance T. White on February 6, 1939 in Rockport, Missouri. Julia lived most of her life in the Emerson area. She was a member of the Emerson United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Golden Girls. Preceding her in death were her parents; sister: Mae Haney; brother: Ray Haney; and grandson: Franklin White. Survivors include her husband: Vance T. White of Emerson, Iowa; daughter: Jacqueline Evans and her husband Earl of Omaha, Nebraska; son: Vance "Neil" White and his wife Sandra of Papillion, Nebraska; grandson: Jon White of Valley, Nebraska; sister: Myrtle Lemons of Emerson, Iowa; 2 Nieces: Carolyn Jones and her husband Leland of Wales, Iowa; and Marilyn Butler and her husband Dick of Galt, California; 2 nephews: Jerry Lemons of S. Sioux City, Iowa; and Virgil Haney of Galt, California; and many other relatives and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at the Emerson Cemetery in Emerson, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Nancy Schultz officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Emerson United Methodist Church or the Make A Wish Foundation. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
