Birthplace: Creston, Iowa Resided In: Rural Villisca, Iowa Judy Hazel Benedict, age 77, of rural Villisca and Guss, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Judy was born February 21, 1944 in Creston, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy "Toots" and Jessie (Dalgetty) Thompson. She was raised in the Red Oak area graduating from Red Oak High School in 1962. She then attended Barnes Beauty School and was certified as a beautician. Judy was united in marriage to Joe Benedict on February 21, 1965, in Red Oak, Iowa. They lived in Malvern, Iowa, for five years and Judy worked at a beauty shop in Glenwood, Iowa. Then they moved to the rural Guss, Iowa, area where they currently reside. Judy worked on the family farm with Joe and when her children were raised, she worked at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society in the Dietary Department. Judy was a member of the Maple Grove Church and the Nodaway Saddle Club. She enjoyed dancing, garage sales, animals, especially her dogs, and spending time with her family. Judy enjoyed attending all of the grandkid's events. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Janie. Survivors include her husband: Joe Benedict of rural Guss, Iowa; daughter: Jody Druivenga and husband Sean of Stanton, Iowa; son: Todd Benedict of Guthrie Center, Iowa; grandchildren: Dilan Druivenga of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Dakkota Harrington and husband Connor of Kansas City, Missouri; and Devin Druivenga of Kansas City, Missouri; great granddaughter: Noah Hazel Harrington; sister-in-law: Jean Wederquist of Urbandale, Iowa; and other relatives and many friends. A celebration of life service will be held 2 PM Friday, March 26, 2021 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Guss, Iowa. Viewing and visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Maple Grove Church or the Nodaway Saddle Club. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Masks will be required at the funeral.
