Birthplace: rural Henderson, Iowa Resided In: Emerson, Iowa Judith Ann (Coppock) Magers, age 81, of Emerson Iowa passed away following an extended illness on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Judy was born September 8, 1939, in rural Henderson, Iowa, to Herman and Ethel (Finley) Coppock. She graduated from Henderson, Iowa High School in 1957. She attended Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing and became an LPN. She was united in marriage to Richard B. "Toppers" Magers on July 18, 1959, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They lived in Henderson, Iowa, and then moved to Emerson, Iowa, in 1984 and raised 4 children. Judy worked 40 years for the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital before retiring in 2001. She enjoyed attending high school sports activities for her children and grandchildren. Judy enjoyed spending time with the coffee ladies, traveling with her friends, as well as trips to see family in Oregon and Hawaii. She loved to Facetime Chad and Eli in Hawaii. Judy recently celebrated her 80th birthday with many family and friends in attendance. She was an avid fan of "Elvis" (Bill Chrastil) and traveled to many of his performances. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Emerson, Iowa. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in September,2003, son Scott Magers in 2002, parents, Herman and Ethel Coppock, infant brother, sister, Linda (Coppock) Patterson, and niece, Peggy Shaw. Survivors include her daughter, Libby Grummert and husband Vertis of Edmond, OK, sons: Drew Magers and wife Angie of Emerson, IA and Chad Magers of Honolulu, HI; grandchildren: Zachary Grummert of Hebron, NE, Sara Grummert of Riverside, CA, Jud Magers of Emerson, IA, Ethan Wright of Clive, IA, and Eli Magers of Honolulu, HI; and sister-in-law, Deloma Allensworth of Emerson, IA. Private family graveside services will be held 2 PM Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the Farm Creek Cemetery near Henderson, Iowa. The service will be live streamed for the public on the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel's Facebook page. There will be an open viewing at Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel from 8:30 AM until 1 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or the Emerson United Methodist Church. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
