Juanita Alm, age 77, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Juanita Alm was born February 5, 1934 in Montgomery County, Iowa the daughter of John and Gladys Marie (Fort) Nichols. She was raised in Montgomery County and attended Stanton and Red Oak Schools. Juanita was united in marriage to Darwin Alm on June 23, 1952 in Stanton, Iowa. Juanita and Darwin lived all of their married life in the Red Oak area. Juanita raised her family and later worked at Red Oak Rehab and Care Center and CDS Global. She enjoyed reading, sewing, collecting unicorns, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers: Jim, Dick, Jerry, Kenneth, and Charles Nichols. Survivors include her husband: Darwin Alm, Sr. of Red Oak, Iowa; children: Ellen Jean Thompson of Murrieta, California; Marie Alm of Denison, Iowa; Darwin Alm, Jr. and wife Ylene of Bremerton, Washington; Nancy Waldemer and husband Calvin of Denison, Iowa; Tammy Wilson of Griswold, Iowa; and Ann Demanett and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother: Robert Nichols of Ankeny, Iowa; sisters: Wanda Squires of Centerville, Iowa; Jean Doughten of Ankeny, Iowa; Karen Mastin and husband Jim of Centerville, Iowa; and Louise Collins of Melcher, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
There will be no services held at this time. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society for Resaerch or the Shriner's.
