Obituary

Juanita Gale Achenbaugh, age 88, of Henderson, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak. Juanita was born November 28, 1935, in Macedonia, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lily (Rash) Shook. She was raised in Macedonia, Iowa, where she attended school. Juanita was united in marriage to Wendell Achenbaugh on June 20, 1951, in Maryville, Missouri. They lived all their married life near Henderson, Iowa, where they farmed. She was a devoted farm wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers, collecting all kinds of things including plates and coins, especially Indian Pennies. She was a great cook and often cooked for large crowds of hired men on the farm. She was very attentive to her children and grandchildren and was always involved in their many activities. She was a longtime member of the Macedonia United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband: Wendell Achenbaugh of Henderson, IA; children: Rebecca Pearce and husband George of Malvern, IA; Roger Achenbaugh and wife Patricia of Cave Creek, AZ; and Ginger Sell and husband Marty of Malvern, IA; grandchildren: Michelle Woodrum and husband Patrick of Glenwood, IA; Ginette James and husband Dwayne of Kirksville, MO; Eric Pearce and wife Charity of Treynor, IA; Jennifer Harbaugh and fiancé Josh Buckels of Malvern, IA; and Josh Sell and wife Shaela of Randolph, IA; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister: Betty Hecker and husband Keith of Sorento, IL; sister-in-law: Marge Batten of Council Bluffs, IA; brother-in-law: David Achenbaugh and wife Betty of Lake Forest, CA; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in the Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak, Iowa. Memorials are suggested to the Henderson Fire Department or the Macedonia Rescue Unit.
