Birthplace: Sparta, TN Resided In: Red Oak, IA Joyce Ann Meyer, age 67, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Joyce was born June 21, 1950 in Sparta, Tennessee the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Chester Writtenberry. She was raised in Pennsylvania where she attended school. Joyce served in the National Guard and moved to Florida for a short time where she met Frederick Meyer. They moved back to Iowa and were united in marriage in 1994 in Red Oak, Iowa. Joyce has lived many years in Red Oak where she worked for Red Coach Inn, Ameristar Casino, and the Manor of Malvern before starting with Good Samaritan Society. Joyce worked there for 16 years retiring last February. She loved baking, cooking and watching murder mysteries on TV. Joyce was always known to be a very hard worker. Preceding her in death were her parents and many siblings. Survivors include her sons: Matthew Meyer and fiancée Jessica Rasmussen of Elliott, IA; Mark Meyer of Red Oak, IA; and Travis Meyer and wife Nichole of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren: Aaron Meyer, Nick Meyer, Michael Stapleton, Dakota Meyer, Brielle Joyce Ann Meyer, Elijah James Meyer, and Elizabeth Sue Meyer; sister: Janie Robinson and husband Tim of Evans City, PA; sisters-in-law: Sharon Peterson and husband Ronald of Council Bluffs, IA and Virginia Johnson of Council Bluffs, IA; brother-in-law: Duane Meyer and wife Ruth of Amarillo, TX; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family of Joyce Meyer. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
