Joyce Philby McKinley, age 84, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. Joyce was born January 19, 1940, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Richard and Frances (Shimerdla) Koll. She was raised in Omaha and attended South Omaha High School. She was united in marriage to Jan Philby, and they moved to Red Oak, Iowa. Six children were born to this union: Pam, Mark, Patty, Steve "Bevo", Mike, and Ann. Joyce later married Merl McKinley and to this union, Kevin was born. Joyce was a longtime employee for Union Carbide/Eveready before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she worked for Grainger for 10 years before retiring. She was a member of the Bridge Club and the Women's Golf Association in New Mexico. She also enjoyed being involved in the Catholic Church. Joyce moved back to Red Oak after her husband Merl passed away. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Oak.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Merl, and brother-in-law: Dick White. Survivors include her children: Pam Romero and husband Fred; Mark Philby and wife Cindy; Patty Philby; Bevo Philby and wife Tammy; Mike Philby and wife Jill; Ann Philby and fiancé Todd Bowden; Kevin McKinley and wife Chrys; Darci Richter and husband Doug; Dori Hampel and husband Greg; and Matt McKinley and wife Jessica; 22 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters: Sandy Hoover and husband Barry and Pat White; and many other relatives and friends including close friend Bob Woods.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held 2 PM Friday, May 31, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a celebration of life to follow at Joyce's home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Joyce's memory.
