Birthplace: Hornick, Iowa Resided In: Red Oak, Iowa Joseph O. Jones, 72, Red Oak, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his home in Red Oak. Joseph Oren Jones was born October 28, 1932 in Hornick, Iowa the son of Wesley and Esther (Kendall) Jones. The family moved to Sloan when Joe was a teenager. After school Joe was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. Joe was united in marriage to Erma Reasan and to this union seven children were born. He later married Virgia Carpenter. Joe lived in Sloan and worked in Sioux City before moving to Omaha in the mid fifties. He worked for 35 years at the Bemis Bag Co. retiring in 1992. Joe moved to Red Oak in 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Julie Marie; wife: Virgia; brother: Leon; and sister: Ruby Reed. Survivors include his special friend: Anita Smith of Red Oak; 6 children: Barbara Brooks and husband Tom of Honey Creek, IA; Bobby Jones, Terry Jones, Rodney Jones and fiancé Carolyn Strong, and Rick Jones and wife Shirrie all of Council Bluffs, IA; and Loretta Jones and special friend Kevin Schwartz of Red Oak, IA; 7 step-children: Margaret Rush of Carmichael, PA; Mary Marion of Thomasville, NC; Cindy Tokish of Riceland, PA; Brenda Garcia of Omaha, NE; Russell Cobb of Watson, MO; Bill Cobb and Chris Cobb of Hamburg, IA; brother: Lavern Jones and wife Joyce of Council Bluffs, IA and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel with Rev. Chris Burgett officiating. Graveside Committal services will be held 3:30 PM Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa; Visitation with the family will be held from 7-8 PM Friday, December 10, 2004 at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
