Joseph Virgil “Joe” Clark, age 66, of Red Oak, Iowa, passed away, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the Villisca Good Samaritan Society. Joe was born April 29, 1960, in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Gladys (Page) Clark. He graduated from Red Oak Community High School in the class of 1979 and served in the United States Army. He returned to Red Oak and worked many years at O’Neal Electric, Hy-Vee, and retired from the Red Oak Greenhouse. He loved gardening, riding his motorcycle, cooking, fixing computers, and was a self-taught carpenter. Joe was a “Jack” of all trades. As a young boy, he received an award from the Iowa Governor and the U.S. President for saving his grandmother’s life during a flood in Red Oak.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a nephew: Tyler Rutherford. Survivors include his children: Adam Clark of Gilmore City, IA and Sarah Schoff and husband Jacob of Story City, IA; grandchildren: Oliver Schoff and Graham Schoff; brother: Curtis Clark and wife Angie of Guthrie Center, IA; sister: Sheryl Clark of Red Oak, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
A graveside celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held at LeRette Funeral Chapel from 9 AM until going to the cemetery in procession for the graveside on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
